Sniff, sniff.
As much as I want my boys to serve missions, it just kills me to see them go.
I will take you backward through our week, starting today and yesterday. Our stake president lives in Saginaw, about an hour from our house, and we had a setting apart scheduled at 7 pm. With Ad's flight leaving the next day at 8 am we decided to spend the night in Saginaw. So, not even 24 hours after arriving home from Nauvoo we were once again on the road and headed for another night in a hotel. Man, I miss my bed!
Here's my missionary, last picture from home:
One last little snuggle:
Here's our stake president, with another missionary also leaving today. These boys were friends here in Michigan and at BYU:
We saw our president later out in his garden rototilling the weeds.
We had decided that after the setting apart we would go out for Chinese food, you know, in preparation for the mission food to come. Well, American Chinese food. Someone said to us, "I'm surprised Adam wants Chinese. Won't he get enough of that over the next two years?" We pondered this statement as we drove up and down the street looking for a good restaurant. Adam said, "You know, I'm really craving that hamburger I had after conference in Utah. It had the best bacon on it ever! Boy, I really think that is what I want." We remembered that the restaurant was "Chillis" but we had no idea if we could or would find it. As we were gradually giving up hope of finding anything that would do, can you believe . . . We came across a Chillis!!! Hurrahs were heard as we pulled into the parking lot at 9 pm.
Here's Adam with the "Big Mouth" burger
Emily had a Mesquite salad, and heartburn an hour later
DH and I, with our forced smiles
Early the next morning at the airport
My camera died shortly thereafter. Emily and I held it together until he got through security. He gave us an "HURRAH FOR ISRAEL" arm wave as he walked to the gate . . .
